Shambhala’s Tibet Children’s Initiative supports a group of disabled
men and women making handmade puppets in
the old city area of Lhasa by a group of disabled women. The puppets
are sold with an accompanying children’s storybook in a monk’s bag in
sets of five, with each set including the yak, antelope, sheep, wolf,
and mastiff characters from the book. The puppets can be used for educational
purposes,to enhance awareness of the environment, respect for the disadvantaged, knowledge
of Tibetan ecology, and importance of sustainable development.
100% of proceeds from the project go directly to assisting handicapped
Tibetan artisans as well as towards helping to sustain the unique culture
of Tibet.Learn more about Tibet Children’s
