Why are we called Shambhala? Shambhala is a core Tibetan Buddhist concept envisioning a realm of future peace. Current cycles of war, disease and environmental destruction have arisen from greed and narrow self-interest. If unchecked, this will destroy our world. Shambhala envisions a future of equitable redistribution of resources, environmental harmony and poverty alleviation. Shambhala Foundation is dedicated to the pursuit of this future. Shambhala's Logo Our logo (a hand with an eye in the center of the palm) comes from a hand position in Tibetan Buddhism signifying generosity. Deities such as White Tara and Thousand-armed Avalokiteshvara appear with a ‘wisdom' eye in the palm of each hand. The eyes symbolize compassionate awareness.
